Project Type: Physical Computing

Project Size: Medium

Done During: MFA Design & Technology at Parsons, NY

Tools: MotorsArduinoRecycled Material

Hellcat was a project for Creativity and Computation Lab, where we were introduced to many different aspects of coding, from digital to physical. In this project, I decided to mix the digital with the physical and create a robot, something I’ve wanted to do my whole life.

I started off with a simple code, where I would be able to move the robot forwards and backwards as well as press a button for a single action. That action would be a flamethrower.

I created the body from a build kit for a robot dog. I then modified the body to place wheels, made a hull and modeled a cat head out of metal mesh and aluminum. The flamethrower is made using a small deodorant bottle and a candle.
